Michigan First Credit Union: a free banking app for kids called Finley

DETROIT. Michigan First Credit Union has a new app for kids. Finley, free and live since August, is built for savers ages 6 to 17.

Nearly 300 accounts have opened so far. Kids set savings goals, do chores for allowance, and earn badges for lessons on saving, interest, and transactions, while parents keep controls on the account. President and CEO Jennifer Borowy and Chief Growth Officer Chanel Everett said keeping the app free mattered for families who need it most.

The credit union started in 1926, founded by nine teachers. It now counts more than 160,000 members across 32 branches statewide.
